 Who we are Minimize

For 35 years, WIC has been the nation’s premier public health nutrition and breastfeeding program. WIC has 1.4 million participants in California, and over 100,000 in San Diego County, who receive WIC food checks, nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and referrals to community resources.

 Unique Partnerships Minimize

WIC agencies in San Diego have developed partnerships with local healthcare providers so WIC families will have access to seamless care and consistent messages in their quest to develop healthy habits for life!

AAP-WIC Partnership
In 2010, San Diego WIC partnered with the San Diego Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics to provide pediatric clinics in San Diego County with comprehensive information about WIC nutrition and breastfeeding services for maximum benefit to  patients.

This partnership resulted in the San Diego WIC agencies winning the California WIC Association’s Best Practices Award for Excellence In Health Linkages. Congratulations, WIC and AAP!

OB-WIC Partnership
In 2011, San Diego WIC partnered with  several OBs and the Center for Healthier Communities at Rady Children’s Hospital  to share messages with prenatal clinics about prenatal weight gain, breastfeeding benefits, and inter-conception health.
